Hello, I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and the new Maptek office in Canada. My name is Carlito deSouza and I’ve been with Maptek for about a month and half. Our office is located in the Southeast part of Calgary in a nice commercial development area outside the city core. We actually have a client in a building right next door.

It’s been a very interesting six weeks since I started with Maptek. In that time I’ve been to Australia (which was a first for me); helped start the Canadian office and business for Maptek; traveled to a few mine sites; and met a lot of really nice people from both Maptek and our customers, along the way. Overall, it’s been a great experience.

From my initial impressions, I’ve seen some really positive indicators that the I-Site business for Maptek Canada is set to grow. I think that the combination of our ruggedized hardware, robust software, and comprehensive field support capabilities bode well for this region. The customers I’ve met with to this point have all been impressed with the capabilities of our laser scanning system and support.

I think that the opportunities for deploying our equipment and services in this region are diverse and numerous and it’s just a matter of getting out there and ensuring that we understand and meet the needs of our existing and potential customers.

I’m looking forward to seeing what the next six months will bring, as so far it’s been a very interesting beginning.
