A story of partnering & innovation

More than 30 years ago, Maptek Founder Dr Bob Johnson, pioneered the techniques that made computer-based modelling a reality for the mining industry. Read about the journey to where Maptek is today.

Vulcan 8.1

Vulcan is the ultimate toolkit for mining engineers, geologists and surveyors who need a powerful, integrated 3D environment for resource modelling, mine planning and production. The latest release, Vulcan 8.1, delivers performance improvements along with two new modules - Stope Optimiser and Short Term Planner.

Scanning the Pilbara

Atlas Iron commissioned Maptek to provide up-to-date surface topography for the expansion of its mining operations in the Pilbara. The I-Site 8800 laser scanner captured data over vast areas at Mount Dove and Wodgina, delivering data and models within days. The spatial data can now be used as a sound basis for mine development.

From explorer to copper producer

Phoenix Copper uses Vulcan for exploration, geological evaluation and mine planning at its sites in the mid north of South Australia. Being able to validate historic drilling from different eras on one project, while completing pit design and optimisation for another, gives Phoenix Copper the flexibility they need to remain profitable.

Users conferences 2011

Australia kicks off the calendar year with an event in Perth, Western Australia in April, with Europe and South America to host conferences in their regions in the third quarter of 2011. It's not too late to register for Australia. Or plan to attend one in your region.

Global news

From new Vulcan representation in Indonesia to training in Africa, Switzerland and Australia, Maptek continues to expand in this its 30th year. Looking to the future is also the driving force behind a new mining engineering scholarship which has been established in South Australia.
