REGISTRATION

FOCUS: PRODUCTIVITY

The goal of any mining operation is to meet production goals and to obtain the maximum returns.
Appropriate procedures and innovative tools allow mining to be more productive. Maptek solutions include:

  • Rapid analysis, quick report generation, and immediate model reconciliation for blasts
  • Triangulation techniques for modeling ore bodies
  • Accurate, real-time reporting of equipment location, payload, and destination

FOCUS: SAFETY

The safety of employees and contractors is of prime importance. Operations must be safe to be
successful. Maptek solutions include:

  • Reducing the frequency of adverse interactions between people and equipment
  • Analysis of rock characteristics and the impact on planning and design
  • Improving safety through monitoring highwall and spoil stability using laser scanning

FORUM DISCUSSION

Day 2

AM

FOCUS: EFFICIENCY

Managing the reported difference between expectations and delivery across the mining cycle is key to
increasing efficiency. Maptek solutions include:

  • Applying effective unfolding techniques
  • Generating short term plans for multiple mines simultaneously
  • Building accurate 3D models of stockpiles using laser scanning
  • Strategic mine planning - quick mid-bench based pit design, phase creation, topography updates,
    and reserve generation

FOCUS: OPTIMIZATION

Costs and margins are a primary concern at several stages in the mining process. Maptek solutions include:

  • Optimization of pit design based on best practices in the Canadian oil sands industry
  • Linking haulage profile designs to schedules
  • Pit optimization using block models and triangulations to gain accurate geological, geotechnical,
    and economic information
  • Analysis of stopes to optimize blast patterns and recoverable ore

CLOSING REMARKS

Days 4 and 5 (Full Conference Only)

Choose from these activities based in the Maptek Denver office:

Vulcan Training

Four different 3-hour training sessions covering problem/solution scenarios.
The hands-on format will help you gain skills to overcome common pitfalls.

I-Site Forum

On Thursday morning, scan the two, 300-foot monoliths at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in the Rocky Mountain Foothills with the I-Site Scanning System.
In the afternoon, return to the Maptek office to process the data and discuss the results.
Activities on Friday include a User Forum showcasing industry case studies.

MineSuite Forum

Participate in a hands-on demonstration of MineSuite. This session will take you through the process of collecting data from across the mining execution value chain for better monitoring, tracking, and decision-making, with reference to how MineSuite can be customized for your site or operation. Additional time will allow for questions.
