Deep drift scanning

Maptek was contracted to collect data to assist with the design and planning of an underground laboratory in the former Homestake gold mine in South Dakota. With the drift last mined in 1929, the I-Site laser scanner and I‑Site Studio software were used to generate a detailed geological model.

Underground scanning best practice

Total survey solution

In 2007 the Stockton Mine began to define the location of historic underground workings to allow recovery of remaining reserves, and improve safety for opencast mining. The I-Site laser scanner was used to collect and process data to assist with planning.

Surveying underground drives

The Maptek I-Site 8800 laser scanner can rapidly obtain detailed 3D point cloud data from underground drives and stopes. From this data, highly accurate models can be developed for volume reconciliations.

Randgold Resources acquired an I‑Site laser scanner for underground stope and open pit modelling. The scanner will be used for monthly reconciliation of underground workings and ore stockpiles at the Loulo mine in Mali.

Moving underground at Argyle

The I-Site laser scanner provides Argyle Diamond Mine with vital survey data for underground design. As the open pit approaches the end of its life, surveying has been instrumental in the development of an underground mine below the open pit.
