Vulcan helps shape Tanami

Newmont Asia Pacific recently tested the new Vulcan Stope Optimiser on scenarios for the Tanami Operations in Australia. Newmont’s mine planning team used the Vulcan Stope Optimiser to assess how cut-off grade variations may affect the orebody expansion plans.

Stope optimisation for underground gold deposit

Mexican company Servicios Industriales Peñoles S.A. de C.V. (SIPSA), approached Maptek for help with optimising stope definition at an underground project. Using Vulcan, SIPSA was able to construct a block model from user inputs to help direct the mine design.

Transition from underground to open pit mining

The BHP Billiton Cannington mine employed Maptek Vulcan to assist with the transition from an underground mine to a proposed open pit operation. Vulcan was used for phase and dump design, truck fleet estimation and mine planning.

Vulcan used for life of mine study
