Whether your focus is geology, operations, planning, safety, or enterprise decision-making, you’ll gain practical insights and strategic perspectives to help drive confidence, efficiency, and transformation across your organisation.

Meet the keynote speakers

Dr Penny Stewart, CEO, Petra Data Science

Dr. Penny Stewart, is a rock mechanics engineer and founding Director and CEO of AI mining software company PETRA Data Science. She is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technical Sciences and Engineering and holds a Queensland 1st Class Mine Managers’ Certificate of Competency. Whilst working in underground and open pit mines across Australia she gained firsthand knowledge of how geological uncertainty impacts mining professionals.

Driven by this experience, Penny pursued her PhD studies at the JKMRC, University of Queensland, focusing on developing site-specific statistical models to predict the stability of underground excavations. Her outstanding work in this field earned her the prestigious Ian Morley Prize. In 2015, Penny established PETRA, guided by the hypothesis that integrating hundreds of millions of tonnes of actual mine performance data into site-specific models provides the most accurate methods for mine productivity and efficiency estimation and optimisation.

Today, PETRA’s AI-powered mining software empowers mining professionals to enhance their understanding of orebody knowledge and optimise the entire mining value chain. After eight years of dedicated effort, PETRA continues to revolutionise the industry.

Dr Tamara Vasey, CEO, Darkmine

Dr Vasey is a cross-discipline innovator and relentless technology + AI advocate. She has degrees in electrical and electronic engineering, and computer science, and completed a PhD studying semiconductor physics. Crossing from academia into industry she landed roles in the WA mining sector developing automation algorithms and software for mining, rail, and exploration. She has focused on the geosciences, leading technology and data science teams across the value chain. Dr Vasey is now CEO of Darkmine, a startup company dedicated to bringing agentic AI intelligence to mining and exploration.
