Following Maptek’s full acquisition of PETRA in March 2026, we’re excited to announce the latest integration between Maptek’s software and PETRA’s MAXTA products. This marks a significant milestone in enhancing orebody knowledge towards our joint purpose of creating value across the mining lifecycle.
This collaboration aims to remove the historical barriers of manual data handling and integration headaches, so users can seamlessly incorporate powerful MAXTA optimisations into day-to-day processes.
Our initial focus is on drill and blast solutions, specifically connecting MAXTADrill&Blast®’s recommended, AI-generated blast design parameters with Maptek Vulcan design tools. Historically, using this valuable information required manual input, which allowed room for error and often software efficiency gains were lost because time-poor users lacked implementation bandwidth.
Now, users can directly import these recommended and optimised blast design parameters into Vulcan with one press of a button. They can then select their optimisation objectives and parameters, such as cost or confidence, making the high-tech, AI-generated designs easily accessible and actionable. This integrated solution is available to existing and new customers as a standard, complimentary upgrade.
This integration is the first step in a larger automation approach Maptek is driving through its Vestrex platform. Vestrex enables automation of data management, computation, workflows and decision support across the mining value chain.
Over the next year, MAXTA will be enabled within Vestrex to automate connecting and managing the entire technical ecosystem. This will enable customers to leverage the power of both companies’ solutions in ways not possible before.
Future integration work is also planned for MAXTAGeomet® products, ensuring that downstream performance predictions are smoothly integrated with Maptek Vulcan and Evolution products for mine planning and scheduling.
Our strategy is to look at where MAXTA can deliver valuable information and make that information as easy to interpret and use as possible. Together, Maptek and PETRA continue to redefine how orebody intelligence is created, shared and applied across mining.
