Robert Clifford.

Mining Engineer - Thompson Creek Metals Co

Thompson Creek Mine purchased their first laser scanner, the I-Site 4400LR model, in the summer of 2007.

From mid 2007 we integrated laser scan point clouds into our month end surface for volume reporting and soon realised it would be very difficult to close without it.

In early 2012 we upgraded to the I-Site 8800 and sent our 4400 scanners to our sister site who integrated it into their month-end process.

With the construction of our newest mine in Canada, we purchased the latest model I-Site 8810 scanner. All three Thompson Creek Metals operations now use I-Site laser scanners and I-Site Studio software as an integral part of the survey, replacing repeated costly LIDAR flights.

The best part of being a Maptek customer is the continued development of I-Site technology to streamline workflows in data acquisition and analysis.

In his spare time, Robert enjoys riding dirt bikes, exploring new trails and terrain to appreciate the beauty of the Rocky Mountains!
