Setting up Sentry to watch over Portia mine

Monday, September 28th, 2015

Maptek helped CMC surveyors get Sentry up and monitoring at Havilah Resources Portia gold mine in northeastern South Australia. Sentry is a laser-based solution for detecting surface change. The system combines I-Site laser scan data with sophisticated software to track and analyse movement over time.

Concrete rafts to support the I-Site laser scanner on stationary bollards were built by CMC at their Broken Hill workshop. These rafts were then placed at 5 locations around the pit.

Sentry can run continuously 24/7 and the system can be easily moved between locations around the rim for safely monitoring surface movements.

The I-Site laser scanner can also be removed to a tripod or vehicle for surveying anywhere on the site.
