Sentry combines a Maptek laser scanner with sophisticated software to cost-effectively monitor, analyse and report on rapid and gradual movements that have the potential to interrupt excavation projects. It is deployed various configurations, the most flexible in a custom trailer offering a power and communications module, cellular and wifi networking,
Users can fully customise monitoring frequency and thresholds to meet strategic design and operational planning needs, and provide accurate, timely reports to geotechnical teams and management for managing risk and safeguarding operational environments.
Sentry is a cost-effective monitoring and mapping system for strategic risk management. It is designed for rugged environments and operates in low light for underground and night time monitoring. A new Sentry configuration allows for continuous monitoring in -20°C, with limited operation at temperatures down to -40°C.
Sentry hardware and software is simple to set up and operate for tactical monitoring in remote locations. Previous monitoring data can be used to create timelines, and generate and animate zones to show movement over time.
The ability to view and analyse automatically generated displacement, velocity and inverse velocity graphs in the pit or underground, in operational offices and remotely over a network helps ensure safe operating conditions 24 hours a day.
In the event of failures, users can import data into Maptek PointStudio to quantify volume of material moved during rock failure, conduct geotechnical analysis and plan remediation work.
The Sentry cold climate system can operate for hours in temperatures from -20°C to +50°C, with a limited operating window in temperatures below -20°C. The battery pack and housing is insulated to keep the unit at a stable operating temperature. Generator, hydraulics and electrical systems help maintain energy efficient, cost-effective operation while monitoring. The system requires a Maptek XR3 cold climate laser scanner, which has also been redesigned to operate at lower temperatures.
