Maptek Drive

Maptek Drive allows the continuous acquisition of laser scan data with a Maptek laser scanner mounted on a moving vehicle. Mining, quarry and civil operations can efficiently survey stockpiles, highwalls and haul roads, cutting survey time by more than 50%.

Stockpiles are easily surveyed for accurate reporting and comparing of daily or weekly volumes. Use Maptek Drive for top of coal survey and capturing mining faces. Maptek laser scanners can be also be used with tripod, vehicle mount and custom bracket accessories for pit and road survey, geological mapping and bulk material volumetrics.

The Inertial Navigation System (INS) in the Maptek Drive vehicle mount is the key to survey efficiency. It allows the data to be acquired continuously and registered to a real world coordinate which saves processing time. Smart registration and visualisation tools reduce time to output survey deliverables.

Maptek Drive is more flexible and cost-effective than dedicated mobile scanning systems. Workflows are tailored to suit common mining deliverables. Collecting measurements from the safety of a vehicle minimises disruption to operations and reduces risk to operators.

Maptek laser scanners can also be mounted on common site vehicles without the INS for deployment in stop-go scanning mode.

  • Use the same laser scanner for surveying stockpiles, open pits, quarries, corridors and roads, and mapping geology
  • Use the same laser scanner for tripod, vehicle-mounted stop-go, rail or hatch-mounted survey, and continuous scanning
  • More cost effective and flexible than comparable mobile systems

  • Data points automatically registered into real world coordinates
  • Smart registration and visualisation tools
  • Workflow tailored for mining, bulk handling and quarry operations enables frequent stockpile reconciliation
  • Capture top of coal for reconciliation with the geological model
  • Take stationary scans to collect survey data for updating surface models

Speed & safety

  • Rapid data collection reduces survey time
  • Multiple survey applications accomplished at once
  • Interruption to site activities is minimised
  • Safe survey from the vehicle removes the need for people to be in active areas

The best survey solution for your task

Laser scanning is widely used in mine survey for its safety, accuracy and speed. We compare the benefits of different modes of operation including continuous survey.
