1 Overview

Reporting to the Customer Development Manager, the successful applicant will primarily be responsible for the following:

• Prepare and provide customer facing technical demonstrations for Maptek’s Mine Measurement products and solutions
• Assist with the preparation of technical proposals for related solutions
• Provide cross departmental assistance with technical presentations and demonstrations
• Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of Maptek’s Mine Measurement solutions
• Develop and maintain relationships with senior contacts at key accounts

2 Duties and Responsibilities

2.1 Product Knowledge

Actively develop and maintain knowledge of Maptek products, their interactions and applications:

• Become expertly familiar with the features and benefits of Maptek’s Mine Measurement products and maintain knowledge as current.
• Become expertly familiar with the application of Maptek Mine Measurement products to meet specific customer needs.
• Develop and maintain a clear understanding of customer workflows and how to demonstrate value from Maptek’s solutions.
• Be able to articulate the full range of Maptek products and describe their interaction.
• Be conversant with competitors’ products in terms of positioning, features and benefits, pricing.
• Maintain an in-depth knowledge of mining technical and commercial drivers and current trends and/or opportunities in the industry.
• Participate in Maptek’s user conferences.
• Study technical papers, reports, articles, case studies relevant to area of expertise.
• Attend industry conferences, exhibitions, trade shows, seminars and other events both in your region, within approved Maptek guidelines, to keep technical knowledge current.
• Take opportunities to represent Maptek as a technical subject matter expert/guest speaker.

2.2 Presentations and Maptek Product Demonstrations

• Prepare accurate and engaging technical sales presentations.
• Prepare relevant Maptek product demonstration by uploading data and workflow examples.
• Prepare custom demo models for more complex customer requirements.
• Check that the demonstration functions correctly and validate all data prior to the customer sales meeting.
• Contribute to the development of frequently asked customer questions by product type with Maptek approved responses.

2.3 Developing and Maintaining Business and Customer Relationships

Assist the department to actively pursue opportunities to increase sales and expand uptake of Maptek solutions within customer accounts:

• Work with prospective customers to fully understand their needs and requirements to formulate strategies for the provision of Maptek’s integrated solutions.
• Follow up on sales leads as and when required and report progress to management.
• Support customers by providing sales, product advice, and business improvement advice as and when required.
• Conduct business development and promotional activities to increase market awareness of the value provided by Maptek’s solutions.
• Assist with the introduction and handover of new users to the Customer Success Lead, to ensure the customer receives the expected value from their purchase..

2.4 Salesforce CRM System and Reporting

Assist with the maintenance of the customer database in the Salesforce CRM system including:

• Create detailed, accurate records of all customers.
• Create detailed, accurate records of all customer contacts.
• Search for and remove duplicated and/or inaccurate customer and or contact records.
• Maintain a pipeline of sales opportunities and update it on a weekly basis, in compliance with Maptek’s CRM Usage Policy, including:
  • Opportunities identified.
  • Solutions pitched.
  • Demonstrations provided.
  • Sales proposals submitted.
  • Progress achieved.
• Create and submit accurate, monthly activity reports to management on a timely basis (or as requested) including:
  • Brief description of sales activities.
  • Outcome/next steps/results.
• Document proactively any customer interaction through Site Reports.
• Advise Management and the Product Manager on product development and market demands derived through consultation with customers.
• Promptly and accurately complete, maintain and process all pertinent job/renewal related paperwork/documentation.
• Comply with Maptek’s Policies on Travel and Work-Related Expenses and Company Issued Credit Cards:
• Submit detailed expense claims on a timely basis and provide required receipts.
• Provide details of items charged to company issued credit cards.

2.5 Team Focus

• Actively participate in company team events, – sessions, and – training.
• Actively promote open communication with other Maptek employees.
• Respect the boundaries when colleagues are account managing customers and try to understand the customer’s perspective to manage the transition from previous relationships effectively.

2.6 Other

• Perform other reasonable tasks as directed by your manager from time to time; and
• All responsibilities are subject to reasonable adjustment to meet organisational needs.
• Business travel, including overnight stays (potentially more than 50% of work time) domestic and international as required.

3 Minimum Requirements

• A recognised geotechnical qualification
• Minimum of 5 years on site experience
• Practical experience with slope stability monitoring
• Representation and active involvement in industry associations or professional bodies, such as IMMSA, ECSA and SANIRE, is desirable
• Willing and able to travel extensively.
• Valid passport.
• A current and valid Driver’s License
• Residing in Gauteng.
