1 General Description

Maptek’s Customer Success Group strives to:

  • “Make It Simple” by simplifying customer processes and workflows, ensuring product usage continues even if personnel changes occur.

The jobholder is mainly responsible for generating and increasing company revenue by promoting and supporting Maptek services. They must ensure excellent quality and technical services are implemented and delivered to all relevant parties.

The jobholder will also:

  • Work with the Drill and Blast Lead to ensure effectiveness of configuration, implementation, and delivery of high-quality technical services and support through structured and coordinated project management, resource management, and client communications.
  • Serve as a catalyst for change by implementing a systematic approach to ensure proactive and continuous engagement.

2 Duties and Responsibilities

The jobholder will be expected to perform the following and meet specific criteria in each of these Key Result Areas:

2.1 Product Knowledge

  • Become proficient with features and benefits of Maptek Drill and Blast products.
  • Apply product knowledge to meet specific customer needs.
  • Stay conversant with competitors’ products in terms of positioning, features, and benefits.
  • Participate in Maptek user conferences and workshops.
  • Study technical papers, reports, and case studies.
  • Represent Maptek as a technical subject matter expert or guest speaker.
  • Deliver Drill and Blast training, consulting, and evaluation services.
  • Create and maintain scripts (e.g., Charge Rules, Python Workflows).
  • Assist development groups, Technical Leads, and Product Manager with testing and documentation.
  • Advise management on development needs based on customer consultation.

2.2 Presentations and Demonstrations

  • Support Business and Customer Development with technical sales presentations.
  • Create custom demo models for complex customer requirements.
  • Contribute to FAQs with approved responses.

2.3 Account Management

  • Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers.
  • Identify opportunities to provide value via services and support programs.
  • Maintain a pipeline of qualified opportunities to achieve targets.
  • Manage opportunities throughout the sales cycle while ensuring high service standards.
  • Provide account insights to stakeholders.
  • Support customers with product and business improvement initiatives.

2.4 Salesforce CRM System and Reporting

  • Maintain customer database in Salesforce CRM with accurate records.
  • Remove duplicate or inaccurate records.
  • Update and manage opportunity pipeline weekly.
  • Drive efficient case resolution for product incidents.
  • Document interactions via Site Reports.
  • Maintain job-related documentation promptly.
  • Comply with expense policies and submit receipts accurately.

2.5 Team Focus

  • Contribute to improving processes and service efficiency.
  • Participate in events, sessions, and training.
  • Promote open communication with colleagues.
  • Respect account management boundaries and manage transitions thoughtfully.
  • Assist Project Manager with resource allocation and project execution.
  • Help develop strategies to promote Drill and Blast services and engage existing clients.

3 Other

  • Perform other reasonable tasks as directed.
  • Responsibilities are subject to adjustment to meet organisational needs.
  • Business travel required (including overnight stays and possible international travel, potentially 50%+ of work time).

4 Minimum Practical Requirements

  • Degree/Diploma in Mining Engineering.
  • At least 3 years’ proven experience in a sales and/or technical role related to Mining Engineering.
  • At least 1 year of proven experience in Timing Designs.
  • Proven success in project control, technical, and relationship management.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite and Google Workspace.
  • Knowledge of Maptek or other mining software preferable.
  • Strong technical mining skills and industry knowledge.
  • Comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong technical acumen: ability to explain complex software solutions.
  • Self-motivated and capable of independent and team work.
  • South African citizen/residency (position based in Rosebank).

4.1 Advantageous

  • Practical experience using Blast Management Software (e.g., BlastLogic, BlastMap, SHOTPlus).
  • Experience with scripting languages such as JavaScript and/or Python.
  • Sales and account management experience.
  • Working knowledge of CRM systems.
